Ainslie First Grade Women Crowned Minor Premiers

A 65-point win over Tuggeranong Valley in a dominant display saw the Ainslie First Grade Women sew up top spot of the 2022 AFL Canberra First Grade Women ladder, crowning themselves as Minor Premiers heading into finals.

13 rounds into the season and still undefeated, Ainslie First Grade Women’s Coach Britt Tully shared how proud she is of her Ainslie squad

“We are very happy with how far we have come in the past couple of years. We know we are playing good football, but we still know we have more to give, and the job is not done yet.

“As a coach I am immensely proud of our whole squad and support crew (both ones and twos). Our twos are playing great football, and this allows us to move forward as a squad and keep pushing each other to get better.”

Tully went on to dive into the mindset heading into finals, stating “the job is not done yet” explaining Ainslie’s hunger for more.

“To be honest we haven’t done anything yet, we can be proud of what we have done, but we will still strive for more. Being undefeated shows that we are playing good football, but it may mean nothing if you don’t show up in the next few weeks.

“Any team has the goal of the Premiership. Our main goal was to secure a top 4 spot to make sure we play finals. We have done that and now we will move on to the finals series and hopefully put our best foot forward.

“There is a hunger in our whole squad to play and win against every team we come up against. We know nothing will come easy but, we will still train and play hard until the very final siren.”

Ainslie will look to continue their stellar season this Saturday at 3:45pm, as they take on the Gungahlin Jets at Alan Ray Oval.
