Rising Stars Mid-Season Review

We’re over the halfway point of the Rising Stars season, and the young guns are battling to secure a spot in the finals.

Let’s take a look at how the teams are faring as we enter round 11.

Rising Stars Men

Belconnen are the team to beat this year as they go into round 11 undefeated. The Magpies comfortably sit in top position, boasting a substantial 12-point gap between them and second. They aim to maintain their flawless campaign as they face off against Marist this Saturday.

Ainslie and Marist find themselves in a battle for a spot in the top two, as both teams sit on 16 points. With an identical win-loss record of 4-4, their head-to-head encounters have resulted in a win apiece for each team.

After a disappointing four-game losing streak, Marist found their way back into the winners’ circle with a victory over Eastlake. Now, they aim to accomplish what no team has done this season by defeating Belconnen on Saturday.

Queanbeyan has been narrowly missing out on wins, losing by only a few goals in their six defeats. They are the only team to keep Belconnen within 10 points this season, showing their potential to go all the way if they maintain their top four position.

Eastlake’s season has been disappointing with only two wins. However, they have shown promise as contenders in their victories over Queanbeyan and Marist. They look to prove themselves and make a push for the top four as they face Ainslie on Sunday.

Rising Stars Women

Ainslie have been dominant, securing convincing wins in all their games this season. They comfortably occupy top spot with a 12-point lead over second.

Queanbeyan have consistently put in solid performances in all their games this season. However, Ainslie has proven to be their kryptonite this year, as they haven’t found a way to beat them in their two meetings. With the weekend off, the Tigers are gearing up to face Ainslie again in round 12.

After a poor start to the season with three consecutive losses, Tuggeranong has found their form, winning four of their last five games. They are focussed on staying in the winner’s circle and pushing for a top two spot.

Eastlake have struggled to secure wins. However, they have shown promise, especially in their matches against Queanbeyan. The Demons have the ability to make a strong push if they maintain their position in the top four.

Belconnen have had a disappointing season overall but showcased their potential with a dominant win over Eastlake in round 4. To have a shot at finals, they need to replicate that performance in their upcoming games.
