Community Football Update – 31.08.21

Earlier today, the ACT Government announced an extension of the current lockdown. The lockdown will be extended until midnight, Friday 17 September 2021.

AFL Canberra understand this is unsettling news to the community, however the health and safety of the community is the number one priority. AFL Canberra are still hopeful to complete the 2021 Junior, Community and Senior competitions, if safe to do so.

AFL Canberra will continue to work with the ACT Government, and ACT Health in ensuring a safe return to sport roadmap following the ACT lockdown, is developed.

AFL Canberra will not make any further announcement regarding the 2021 seasons, until a return to sport roadmap is developed by the ACT Government.  Following the development of the return to sport roadmap by the ACT Government, AFL Canberra will assess with clubs, the feasibility of completing the season, before any final decision is made.
