Belconnen Magpies Vs. Eastlake Demons, Adero Law Nest

Belconnen Magpies finished in second place after defeating Eastlake Demons 10.6.66 to 1.2.8. The Magpies were able to keep Eastlake goalless for the first half while getting themselves to a 5.3.33 to 0.1.1 lead at half time.

The Magpies continued to apply the pressure after half time, kicking another three goals in the third quarter and two in the last quarter. The Magpies were able to shut down Eastlake key players such as K. Demant and V. King which was a huge reason for their success.

Wallett has been the Magpies best player all year and she displayed her talent once again kicking three goals. H. Kemp was right behind her with 2 goals, contributing with a strong game in the forward line.

 

Ainslie Tricolours Vs. Gungahlin Jets, Alan Ray Oval

Ainslie Tricolours were able to finish in fourth place and lock in their spot to play finals football after defeating the Gungahlin Jets. Ainslie had a slow start but were able to come back and win, 11.9.75 to 1.1.7. Jets held the lead at quarter time 0.4.4 to 1.0.6 but Ainslie came out in the second quarter and kicked three straight goals to take the lead.

With momentum, Ainslie kicked four goals in both the third and fourth quarters to have a total of 11 goals for the match. D. Peel kicked three goals to help her side into finals with A. McGee, G. Clayden, and D. Curcio all kicking two goals.

Caesar, C. Langlands, E. Nutt, A. Ryan, J. Telfer, and A. Winefield were the best players for the Jets, not giving up until the last siren.

 

Queanbeyan Tigers Vs. Tuggeranong Valley, Allinsure Park

Queanbeyan Tigers finish on top of the AFL Canberra Women’s Competition after remaining undefeated the entire season. The Tigers showed their talent, defeating Tuggeranong Valley 17.13.115 to 2.0.12.

The Tigers played professional football scoring at least four goals each quarter. R. Grounds and A. Hamilton lead the way with four goals each with T. Evans and T. Campbell right behind with three. A. Dwyer, T. Campbell, and R. Grounds received the best on the ground for the Tigers and will be three players to watch moving into finals next week.

Both goals for Tuggeranong came from A. Ghirardello as she tried to get her team in the game. K. Greenacre, E. Blowes, T. Grady, A. Ghirardello, S. Lawson, and K. Donlan were Tuggeranong’s best players as they played their final game for the season.

Eastlake Demons finished second in the AFL Canberra Men’s Competition after defeating Belconnen Magpies 13.15.93 to 8.8.56. The Magpies started slow kicking 0.2 while Eastlake had 11 scoring shots to lead 5.6.36 to 0.2.2 at quarter time.

The Magpies were able to get themselves back in the game by kicking four goals to one in the second quarter. Eastlake were held to one goal in the third quarter as the Magpies kicked two goals to slowly get themselves back in the game. Going into the last quarter it was 6.6.42 to 7.12.54, the Magpies only needed two goals to tie the game after being down by five goals in the first quarter. Eastlake responded to the pressure, taking control of the last quarter kicking 5 goals to lock in the win.

Smout scored four goals and A. Baker score three, leading the way for Eastlake to get the win.

The Gungahlin Jets left nothing in the tank as they played their last game for the season against Ainslie Tricolours. Although the Jets displayed talent and passion it wasn’t enough as Ainslie won 16.18.114 to 8.8.56.

Ainslie started fast kicking 6.4 in the first quarter to lead 6.4.40 to 1.2.8 at quarter time. The Jets were able to slow them down as Ainslie only kicked two goals in the second quarter. The Jets played their best footy in the second quarter as they kicked four goals to only be down 20 points at half time. The Jets weren’t able to back this up in the third quarter as Ainslie regained control and kicked four goals in the third and fourth quarter to finish the game off.

Doering scored four goals for Ainslie with H. Delves scoring three. T. Roughton, T. Powell, H. Delves, L. Crocker, M. Richardson, and C. Boyton are players from Ainslie to look out for next week going into finals as they all have the power to impact the game.

In the Jets final game, J. Nunn, M. Hambleton, J. Noble, M. McGrory, Z. Sheather, and D. Gillian all stood up and showed their talent.

Queanbeyan Tigers finished on top of the AFL Canberra Men’s Competition after defeating Tuggeranong Valley 19.21.135 to 3.7.25. Queanbeyan Tigers are going into finals with confidence as their first-grade women and men teams both finished on top of the ladder.

Tuggeranong was able to match the Tigers in the first quarter only behind by 5 points at the first break. The Tigers came out strong in the second quarter kicking four goals as Tuggeranong fell behind, only able to kick one goal. The Tigers best quarter came in the fourth quarter as Tuggeranong couldn’t keep up with the speed and fitness of the Tigers. The Tigers kicked nine goals to finish off the game and go into finals with confidence.

Bryce scored four goals for the Tigers with J. Carroll-Tape with three goals next to his name.

Scrivener, A. Paech, J. Gardiner, L. Moore, L. Andreatta, and M. Lovett were Tuggeranong’s best players and players to watch out for in the coming seasons.
