AFL fans encouraged to dig deep for Tathra
In an effort to raise much needed funds for the victims of the recent Tathra bushfires, the ACT Rural Fire Service will collect donations at this Sunday’s GIANTS vs. Western Bulldogs match at UNSW Canberra Oval.
With assistance from the volunteer firefighters, donations will be accepted around the ground for the Bega Valley Shire Council Mayoral Appeal Fund.
Young NAB AFL Auskickers from Tathra will also be in attendance at the match and will form the Guard of Honour for the GIANTS as they run onto the field, as well as play during Half-time Auskick.
AFL Sapphire Coast is also on board with gold coin donations encouraged during the Sapphire Coast Senior Lightning Premiership taking place this weekend. Similarly, donations will be collected during the Sapphire Coast Junior Lightning Premiership in Bega and Bermagui on April 7. The money from these events will also be donated to the Mayoral Appeal Fund.
The Tathra Sea Eagles will also be running a raffle/auction, which will be drawn on the April 7 at the Tathra Bowling Club with great prizes on offer.
A known AFL-loving town, Tathra is home to the mighty Tathra Sea Eagles.
