Jodie Hicks drafted to GWS Giants
Jodie Hicks from the Belconnen Magpies has been drafted to the GWS Giants.
Jodie had a stellar year for the Magpies, kicking 40 goals in 16 games on their run to the Preliminary Final and was selected in the 2017 AFL Canberra Women’s Team of the Year.
Jodie was the AFL Canberra 2017 Women’s Player of the Year as voted by coaches on a 5-4-3-2-1 basis. Jodie finished a close runner-up to Gungahlin Jets Britt Tully in the Mary Ann Bainrot Medal (Best and Fairest) as voted by umpires on a 3-2-1 basis for the 2017 UNSW Canberra Women’s League. Jodie will now join Britt in the midfield for the GWS Giants.
The Hay product also had the opportunity to represent Southern NSW with their representative clash against AFL Canberra in Wagga Wagga in May.
The two-time Youth Girls All Australian also excels at cricket with stints with the ACT Meteors and Sydney Sixers.
We wish Jodie and all other Canberra products all the best with the 2018 AFLW season.
