Woden duo share milestone game

This coming weekend, Sunday 6th of August, Woden Blues will be celebrating the milestones of two players who have been a part of the club’s DNA.

Ashley “Carts” Carter will celebrate 200th club game and Paul “Junior” Maher will celebrate his 250th club game for the Woden Blues Football Club.

Both players were Marist Old Boys and have been playing football with the Woden Blues for over 15 years.

Both players were highlighted the possibility of playing their massive milestone games at the end of last season and both players have put in so much time and effort to make these milestones a reality.

Woden Blues President Russell Fort spoke about what a season 2017 has been and about both players hitting their milestone games

“2017 has been a crazy year with over 70 players registered to play AFL for the Blues. We have had some great milestones already achieved with over ten players hitting their 50 games for the club; and another massive milestone of Josh Campbell hitting his 150th club game earlier in the year.” Fort said

Carts and Junior have been instrumental in the club’s growth over the past five years, with the expansion of two teams, and the challenges of bringing new players to the club. Anyone who has been a part of the club – either as a player, supporter, volunteer or even an opponent over the years, would know both Junior and Carts and how important they have been to the club’s culture and success.

Ash will be the third player in the club’s history to make 200 club games; whilst Junior is our leading “games played” player at the club, and with the huge milestone of 250 games, could hold this record for several years to come.

“On behalf of the Woden Blues AFC community I would like to congratulate both players not only on their milestone, but of the 15+ years of loyal service to the Woden Blues Football Club. The club is forever in your debt.” Fort said.
