Weston Creek Molonglo Wildcats Junior AFL Club 50th Anniversary

In 2022, The Weston Creek Molonglo Wildcats Junior AFL Club (WCMWJAFC) are celebrating their 50th anniversary. This weekend, the Wildcats are inviting current and former Wildcats players and officials to launch celebrations by coming down to the club’s home ground at Teesdale Place, Stirling. AFL Canberra has scheduled home games for all Wildcats teams on Saturday and Sunday, providing a great opportunity for the Wildcats community to come and cheer on their teams from U10s to U16s.

Originally formed as a junior club, the Wildcats have gone through several phases. These included an amalgamation with former junior club Woden Manuka (1985 to 1998) and being part of a senior Wildcats club (1991 to 2006) before being re-established as a junior club (2007).

Wildcats club president, Trudi Fajri, will be formally welcoming Wildcats community members in between games at 10.30am on Saturday and 11.15am on Sunday. Attendees will be able to view memorabilia such as yearbooks, photos and stories collected to date. They can also provide their own experiences as part of bringing together the club’s history in a book to be produced later in 2022. The club also intends to hold a formal function towards the end of the season.

The canteen will be serving regular morning footy food and drinks and coffee and other hot drinks can also be purchased.

Attendees are encouraged to register their interest in celebrating the club’s 50th anniversary on the weekend or if they are unable to attend, to get in touch with the club via email at wildcats50years@gmail.com.
