AFL Canberra Announce New Partnership with Canberra Southern Cross Club

AFL Canberra and the Canberra Southern Cross Club are excited to announce a new two-year partnership. The partnership will see the Canberra Southern Cross club become the official Community Club Partner for AFL Canberra. The partnership will showcase the important continuing investment into women’s football within the ACT region, with a minimum of 50% of the partnership to be invested into further developing the women’s game

Ian Mackay, CEO of the Canberra Southern Club said “The Canberra Southern Cross Club is delighted to strengthen its partnership with AFL Football in the ACT. Our focus is on support of community sport at a grass roots level through this activity as well as our direct sponsorship of the Tuggeranong Valley Australian Football Club (TVAFC). We are particularly pleased that a minimum of 50% of the funding provided through this partnership will be directed towards women’s football.”

 Eastlake Football Club player, and Canberra Southern Cross Club employee, Kasie Nugent stated “It is great to have an opportunity come from such a community focused organisation like the Canberra Southern Cross Club and is really positive to see this great organization show their support for women’s football.”

 Tuggeranong Valley AFC player, and Canberra Southern Cross Club employee, Stephanie Lahey said “This is a great partnership which will be great exposure and beneficial for the women’s game in the ACT. It will be of true value to up and coming young girls and women”

The partnership will also see the Canberra Southern Cross become a major partner of AFL Canberra and aspects of the partnership is detailed below.

  • Minimum of 50% of partnership contribution invested into Women’s Football
  • Canberra Southern Cross Club to become league Runners, Water Carriers & Trainers Shirts major partner
  • Weekly Best on Ground prizes awarded in the Men’s and Women’s First Grade Feature game
  • Winning Grand Final team from each Senior competition to receive a prize provided by Canberra Southern Cross Club
  • Canberra Southern Cross Club become naming rights and proud supporter of the AFL Canberra Community Club of the Year, to be known as ‘The Canberra Southern Cross Club Community Club of the Year’
  • The Canberra Southern Cross become AFL Canberra events partner
